MARIAN HOCKEY
STORYLINES
BUST OUT THE BROOMS: Finally returning home to the Blue Line, the Sabres pulled off a sweep
of Finlandia for the second year in a row. On Friday night, Marian would ride the wave of yet
another Amanda Waigand powerplay goal as well as a second period goal from Kristin Skubic.
Saturday night showcased the “no-quit attitude” as the Sabres were trailing by two entering the
third. Junior Nina Laurie put the team on her back and scored back-to-back goals in a span of
2:41 to tie the game at two. Then at 17:38 of the third, freshman Rian Lennon put home the gamewinner.
TIME FOR A BREATHER: After a whirlwind of an opening month to their season, the Sabres will
earn a much deserved weekend off. They’ll travel to Mequon to face Concordia Wis. on Thursday
and the Falcons will be hungry for a win. Last weekend, they were swept by Lake Forest in a homeand-home series. Emily Heckendorf leads the offense with three goals and two assists. Teammate
Brandi Muller isn’t far behind with three goals and an assist. In net, the Falcons lean on Jennifer
DeGeorge, who through six starts, has a 2.48 GAA, .915 Save Percentage, and 151 saves.
