MARIAN HOCKEY STORYLINES BULLDOG FURY: Marian spent last weekend on the road in Adrian, Mich. going toe-to-toe with one of the top teams in the NCHA. The Bulldogs of Adrian lived up to their traditional hard-nosed, gritty style of hockey, battling with the Sabres each game. On Friday night, Adrian proved to be too much for Marian to handle, winning 4-1. The lone Sabre tally came on the powerplay in the third period, as Amanda Waigand scored her third goal of the season. On Saturday, Marian jumped out to a 2-1 lead in the first, but were unable to hold on as Adrian came back to win 4-3. TOP FIVE: Marian sophomore Amanda Waigand currently ranks fourth in the country in points per game. Through three games, Waigand has four goals and three assists, good for an average of 2.33 points per game. Waigand is tied with Nina Waidacher of St. Scholastica for power play goals with four. SILENCING THE PRIDE: The Sabres welcome Finlandia to the Blue Line this weekend. The Lions enter winless on the year, with their first two weekends of the season coming against Concordia Wis. and St. Scholastica. Siera Hache and Theresa Wolf each have a goal and an assist through the team’s first four games. MUSabreAthletics @MUSabres MUSabres SabreAthletics VIDEO CORNER Come out to the Blue Line!
