SEASON PREVIEW
ntering her second season with the Sabres, Head Coach Jamie Kivi is optimistic about
the pieces that are filling in the empty spaces of the puzzle. With her first full recruiting
class in session, the second-year coach has raised the bar for her players, pushing
them to compete on every shift and in every game.
Headlining the returners to the 2013-14 squad include All-Conference Honorable
Mention goalie Amanda Alexander. The Sault Ste. Marie native turned away 579 shots
last season, good for a .935 save percentage. With the added depth that the Sabres have

added this season, Alexander should see a decrease in the number of shots she sees per
game.
Joining Alexander is Amanda Waigand, who led the Sabres in goals (13) and points
(17) last season. Waigand currently is first place in Sabres history for career points, goals,
and power play goals. Kivi will be looking to her to continue her high-octane offense on
the top line.
Kristin Skubic returns for her third season with the Sabres. A Chesterfield, Mo. native,
Skubic will be looked to for the intangibles that often times go unnoticed.
“I think you’ll see her offensive statistics grow this year,” Kivi said. “But Kristin is a
strong two-way utility player that we are fortunate to have.”
In addition to the 10 freshmen joining this year’s roster, the Sabres also welcome two
