Matchmaking
It Has Been Quite a Year for Women!
A s we approach
International
Women’s Day on
March 8th, we will likely
be reminded of the
incredible movement
that has transpired since
the Women’s March last
year after Donald Trump
took office. From that
day on, it feels like:
Women are becoming
stronger, more courageous,
and willing to take a stand
We have witnessed Hollywood Celebrities
joining in on #metoo, and timesup, and we
watched in horror as many brave young women
made victim impact statements against Larry
Nassar - the disgraced US Gymnastics Doctor
which garnered him over 175 years in jail.
I have been writing a dating column called
‘Holmes is Where the Heart Is’ in Kamloops
this week for a year and love the opportunity
to periodically submit to this amazing Women
Shining publication.
I also officially launched my own Matchmaking
Company and am really enjoying putting an old
fashioned touch back into meeting someone. In
this fast paced digital world where single folks
seem tempted to swipe left or right shopping for
people, I am attempting to show them the art of
communication is possible to bring back to life.
I remember growing up, there was an event in
high school called ‘Sadie Hawkins Day’ where
girls were allowed to ask boys out. Can you
imagine they had to designate an actual day
where girls were given permission to approach
a boy for a dance?
Fast forward to 2018 and the current version of
that is called Bumble. It is an on line dating app
that is made for women to make the first move.
I wonder why women have to hide behind
technology to ask a guy out? Ladies, In this
day and age, why not make the first move in a
coffee shop, a pub, or heaven forbid when you
want to propose marriage to your partner?
