I’VE HAD A CRUMMY LIFE
Monique Vek’s Story
Cont’d...
I checked the dates and thought this time, let’s bring them a show! My producing skills
were built enough that I knew what the actual producers would want to see; let’s bring
them controversy, let’s bring them entertainment, let’s bring them something
they have never seen before.
We did exactly that and were only one of a few hundred out of the thousands that applied
to get the call to go to Toronto to film Dragons Den. I recall saying to my family that I
felt like Arlene would be there when we taped, seemed odd, but a feeling that persisted. A
few weeks later, CBC officially announced Arlene’s return to the show! Holy crap.
We arrived at the studio early afternoon, many other pitchers were nervously practicing,
the energy in the studio was a mix of excitement and fear. All the crumbs had lead me
here, at every cross road, I listened. I took the path that felt right, the one that lit me on
fire with excitement.
I do know we are all meant to follow a certain path in life, if you feel like you are
constantly being kicked around, just stop, look around, feel who you are, give
into it. If I did not give in to the possibility of being more than a tour guide then I promise
you I would have a sweet tour guide company and would of never become who I am today.
