Women of Standard’s Vanessia Morgan Covers Dove Awards! Beauty Spotlight by Vallen Cordon Five Questions for Ms. Plush “Is she wearing blue lipstick and rainbow colored eyebrows?!” Well if she is, she’s probably award-winning makeup artist and personal stylist, Tyronsa Lawrence better known as Ms. Plush. If you don’t know her name yet, just stay tuned. Hailing from Rocky Mount, NC, Ms. Plush is CEO of Millionaire Status Makeup Artistry and Plush Diamond Boutique, a woman’s retail shop offering ladies’ shoes and apparel from petite to plus size. She also recently launched cosmetics line, Platinum by Plush, offering high pigmented eye shadow and lip gloss. Just who is this Ms. Plush, and how did she become a small town girl living out big city dreams? Well, I don’t really know a lot of makeup artists personally, but I feel I have a style of my own that when people see my work they will say “That’s a Millionaire Status face right there” or “Ms. Plush must have done her makeup.” Also I don’t see too many artists starting their own line. I am trying to take my line from being independent to being a household name. What’s your advice to other young ladies who may feel that their goal is unattainable because of living in a “small town?” How did you turn your dream of exploring the world of beauty and fashion into a reality and who influenced you? Honestly, I wish I could say “Oh this is a dream I’ve had since I was a little girl” but that’s not the reality of it. I started getting into fashion in my mid-20s, and shopping became an obsession. If I had $10 I was going to shop, not only for myself but for others. Shopping became second nature to me so I turned an obsession into a profession, and Plush Diamond Boutique was born. As far as makeup, so many people were speaking it into my life, but I never paid attention to it. People were buying me makeup brushes, asking me to do their makeup before going out. I even did all the ladies’ makeup on my wedding day not realizing what I was actually doing. Then one day I literally woke up and decided to play in some makeup and brushes that I had received as a gift the year before, posted the look on Facebook, and Millionaire Status was born. God laid this talent on me because everything I do is self-taught, but my influence was reality TV. I would watch and see all the fashion and makeup the ladies were wearing and ask, “Why can’t the ladies of Rocky Mount and surrounding areas have those same styles?” What sets you apart from other makeup artists? With God ALL things are possible! Faith in God and yourself is what will help you attain your dreams. Your surroundings don’t define you. Where you live has nothing to do with how you live your life; only you can hold you back. What is the most important beauty advice that you can give to women? BE YOU! Don’t be afraid to be different and step out of what “folks” consider to be normal. Wear whatever you wear with confidence. As I tell my clients, “Wear the product; don’t let it wear you.” What’s next for Ms. Plush? Whatever God has for me, I am ready! Platinum by Plush will soon carry more products such as foundations, brushes, eyeliners, etc. We plan on being a fullfledged line, carried in major cosmetic stores. Plush Diamond Boutique will also be expanding in the near future.
