earn of millions of dollars doing
what I love to do. What I would
say to people is that in order to
make it, you must have quality
relationships.”
Overcoming obstacles and
challenges from all angles, Les
Brown has indeed made it. Aside
from being an internationally
recognized speaker and CEO
of Les Brown Unlimited, Inc.,
Les Brown is also the author
of the highly acclaimed and
successful book, Live Your
Dreams, as well as the former
host of the Les Brown Show,
a nationally syndicated daily
television show that focused on
solutions rather than problems.
When asked what it took to
achieve the level of success he
has in his lifetime, Les shared
these points:
Engage in an ongoing process
which this day in time is called
the era of the 3C’s-accelerated
change,
overwhelming
complexity, and tremendous
competition. You want to
continue to work to develop and
expand your mind! You don’t
get in life what you want; you
get in life what you are. Sixteen
most revolutionary words in the
Bible are, “Be ye not conformed
to this world, be ye transformed
by the renewing of your mind.”
Engage in an ongoing process
of learning and upgrading your
skill-sets. There is no shortage
of opportunities in this global
economy; there is a shortage
of the capacity of people to
be able to have the flexibility
and versatility to navigate the
new economy. 53% of MBA
graduates can’t find a job
when they graduate. If you are
able to get a job, you have to
have at least 2-3 competencies
and you will be working in an
environment with no health
benefits, and no job security.
You must be flexible and
adaptable and have the skill-set
to stay ahead of technology and
cheap labor abroad.
Create
a
network
of
collaborative,
achievement
driven relationships. There
was a study that showed that
you earn within $2000-$3000
of your closest friends. When I
found that out, I got away from
my broke friends.
Don’t try and do it by yourself.
You need a coach. Muhammad
Ali said I am the greatest but
he never won a championship
without Angelo Dundee in
his corner. I am who I am
because of Mike Williams. I am
coachable and I was will
