Volume 1, Issue 5 Page 8 Domestic Violence Solidarity Walk The domestic violence solidarity walk began with a dream. WOCPSCN’s founder, Loretta Green Williams, awoke from a dream, that has quickly manifested into a worldwide initiative that is so simple but yet so power. This simple act of walking in silence for the silenced in a show of solidarity will speak volumes and send message of no more suffering silently in the wake of domestic violence. The responses and actions have come faster than imagined. The willingness of women and men to organize a walk of solidarity in their community has come from as far away as South Wales, organized by Tim Holmes. We even got a lady named Sally Blessings to organize in her community in an area of Texas. The awful reality of domestic violence is it knows no boundaries and it does not care of social or economic status. In simply sharing about the solidarity walk we began to hear stories of survivors among some we never imagined had the first hand experience. It was back in 2009 that Loretta and I learned we shared the unfortunate experience of being survivors of generational domestic violence that not only griped us but took the life of someone we loved. For Loretta it was her daughter and me I lost my eldest brother. For information on walking or org aniz ing a w a lk v is it : www.wocpscn.com Join us on Facebook. To hear our interview click here. There is so much wisdom in this young gifted and powerful woman. We talked of humbled beginning, her mom’s legacy and influence, her status as a serial entrepreneur, life change agent, and humanitarian. Moreover, I was inspired by the life energy that is an extension of her mom that she exudes. Wright’s mother, Adelaide Smith and I were college classmates. We both were much the senior of our colleagues and we both had many challenges but none of them stopped us from achieving our goal of higher education. We both desired a better life for ourselves and children. Adelaide’s life continues to inspire others even though she rest in the Father’s arms. She is called the Water Walker because she lived a life that bears witness to miracles happening today—she had an enormous faith; her children have that same energizing faith. She has the same magnetic presence and command of space her mother had. The pair mother and daughter possess an aura that radiates a rich grace that belies a very humble beginning. Wright speaks of her mother’s legacy that reside in her and her brother, Voltaire Davis, CEO of Amer I Can Re-Up Me.
