American artist Tristen Patriz Abstract Acrylic I have an immense appreciation for art in all of its forms from dance to sculpting to music to written/ spoken word to drawing and painting. It’s a true love affair with inner workings that often go misunderstood. My personal love for the arts began when I was a child with painting and photography. It progressed into a passionate culinary experience and profession, and has taken form once again in painting. My work is not derived from any one muse or issue, nor based upon any particular social commentary. Much of it comes from some sort of new understanding into the power and beauty I see in life. It could be something I felt while watching a ballerina dance, a chef prepare a meal, or a model walk the runway. I believe there is an artistic translation and expression for everything. While there is no particular pattern I follow at this particular moment in time, I do find that movement and vivid color is what is most consistent in my work. There is the power to agitate or soothe in movement. The moment typically dictates which we’ll experience. Color is an ever useful communicator, and serves as effective subject matter. It speaks a language all its own, and currently I choose to focus on perfecting my use and understanding of it. For every work I complete, there is a new understanding and appreciation for it. wom en ART page 37
