american artist Liesl Marelli photography I loved observing the people living and working in the Peruvian Amazon - how they acted, how they dressed, how they communicated. I was intrigued by my inability to match the images in my mind from school with the actual people living here today. In schools, I believe, we learn to categorize people when it truly is impossible. With a region as large as the Peruvian Amazon there are simply too many variants to have a single photo that expresses the culture. Shattering (even my own preconceived notions) is one of the many reasons I enjoy traveling the world with my camera. wom en ART page 38
