South African artist Lara Segal Oil painting Lara Segal is a South African Artist, who explored the relationship between the beautiful landscapes and cityscapes and the political and economical times of being in Johannesburg, South Africa. I have dug deep into an emotional roller coaster of growing up with a single mom who has worked day and nights to keep food on the table. What interests me the most is the beauty in the skies and how they change every moment of our day but still remain breathtaking and beautiful. This is a sharp contract to our political environment filled with theft, lies and living an excessive lifestyle as a politician, while the poorer are getting poorer daily. My focus has been to connect to various areas of my life and explore each emotion through the use of colours and line and explore the depth of the Landscapes to allow me to create an in-depth collection of works. Colour has always been a Happy Place for me where I can take a plain piece of paper or canvas and create a palette of colours, lines and contours to shape a picture and create something new for the world to view. wom en ART page 28
