She had a bilingual and bicultural upbringing which continues to weave into the fabric of her art on multiple levels. Her ideas and concepts are articulated through the combination and experimentation of multifarious materials ranging from glass and recycled objects to oils on canvas and everything in between. About her expression in this particular body of work in Contemporary Primitivism: “Textures, patterns and colors infiltrate my work from the very first layer where I juxtapose images and materials, to the very last defining layers of shape and color arrangements. This deeply layered work combined with saturated colors represents life’s archetypal patterns and healing powers. Color is healing, geometry is comforting and art is a necessary emotional experience for me.” Dualities between external appearances and internal realities, social inequities, circumstance vs. acceptance, survival, connection and desensitization are themes that weave throughout the body of her work. She is definitely a visionary artist. Her work is as much an intellectual journey as it is an articulate expression. Synesthesia influences her color choices, intuition and serendipity play huge roles in her media direction, and, extensive experience in a variety of media allow her to connect with a repertoire of materials she can approach without fear. Among other things, she incorporates pastels, oil paints, acrylics, fabric and repurposed elements, inks, wax, graphite, digital art, photography, and other nonconventional materials. wom en
