ART wom american artist en Megan Duncanson acrylic paintings I am a self taught contemporary artist, living out my dream of being able to create beautiful art as a profession.  As long as I can remember I have been drawn to art and have always had a pencil or brush in hand. I am constantly trying to find my own unique space in a sea of artists. It is a daunting task, but I think with my new style of art, as seen on the pages of this website, I have finally found MY place. It’s exhilarating and inspiring to feel as though I’m doing something totally new and different.  A style that I can grow with and explore all matter of subject and color. I have endless ideas spinning through my mind, but not enough time to put them all on paper or canvas; such a shame life is so short,  but, I am trying to make the most of what little time I have to express myself artistically, and reach out to others with my art.   I am a highly prolific Artist and produce literally hundreds of paintings in a single year.  The more I paint the more prolific I become.    I draw my inspiration from nature and everyday subjects around me. Living in one of the most remote places on the planet, the Bush of Alaska, as well as tropical paradise, Hawaii and Florida, has allowed me to use many different aspects in my art to inspire me.  It can be trees, boats, birds, vibrant sunsets, water, palm trees, cities, martinis; anything I see around me can be used  to it’s fullest extent to draw the viewer into each piece and provide them with an enriching and pleasurable experience.   I strive for my art to have an element of surprise, and at the same time, affect each person on a personal level with elements that they can relate to from their own life-experiences. facebook website linkedin The closest style I feel my art fits into is a mix of Contemporary Eclecticism and Pop.  And yet, it is different and unique in it’s own way, which is refreshing, and full of light and laughter.  My goal as an artist is to bring happiness and joy into people’s lives through art.  If every time someone looks at my art and it makes them smile, I know I have achieved part of my dream and purpose in life to create “Art that Colors the Soul.”™
