american artist Amanda Barker ceramics Amanda Barker achieved a Bachelors degree in Art from Westminster College in Salt Lake City Utah, USA. It was here that her childhood artistic indulgence was deeply and thoroughly explored. She learned about different styles and methods of expression. Her emphasis was painting and drawing, but as soon as she threw that first cup in a beginning ceramics class, she was hooked. Amanda had fallen in love with the mud. Her artistic process is to stand back and let her experience and her hands actualize the form in the wet clay. She has discovered through much trial and error that the best work occurs when she “gets herself out of the way, allow the creative juices to take over, and assist the from that is manifesting.” The artistic goal is balance, functionality, and delight. wom en ART page 8
