american artist wendy williams Flamework Glass Art I started using glass as a medium while living on Maui in the early ‘90s. I walked into a cute little glass shop in Lahaina, with its Ocean Views, and fell in love with the sound of the torch whistling loudly in the background, the sight of the sparkling glass sculptures lining the koa wood walls, and the feeling of excitement in the air! I worked at this gallery/studio for many years before opening my own hot shop in my garage and later a Fine Art Gallery. Living on an island, I created what most inspired me in my environment -- Sea Life. Now living back on the mainland, in South Carolina, I have turned my focus to a few new areas, The Human Form, Marbles and Plant Life. Each allows me unlimited possibilities and creative freedom. I enjoy Whimsical, Organic Shapes and find inspiration all around me. It is in the morning dew glistening on the grass, the movement of the river that flows in my back yard, and the intricate patterns of the tiny wild flowers that nestle in the meadow pasture. wom en ART page 55
