co v e r p ag e cont e st [ e art h d a y ] w inn e r Brandi Fitzgerald Should we truly want our Mother Earth to thrive, we must prepare the children of today, to mindfully protect her. We must teach. We must nurture. Most importantly, we must listen. While contemplating my participation in this months issue of Women in Art 278, I immedia tely thought about my nieces and nephews and I thought about the power that they hold to shape the future. With them in mind, I formulated my theme. The Earth and The Moon. The Sun and The Stars. These sayings hold meaning for me that extends far beyond the color on the pages or the shape that the letters take on. Mother Earth, I love you to the moon and back. I promise not to go where the path leads but instead I will create my own path. Mother Earth, I love you more than the stars in the sky. I will be silly. I will be honest. I will be kind. Mother Earth, I will protect you. This is a collection of children’s decor that I have created over the years. May these sayings resonate with you and the imagery cultivate creativity and imagination, just as they have for me.
