taking hold of the baton
and “continuing to
build ourselves up in
our most holy faith ,
praying in the Holy
Ghost,
keeping
ourselves in the love of
God, looking for the
mercy of our Lord Jesus
Christ unto eternal life,
and of some have compassion, making a
difference” Jude 1:20-25
“My mother taught me how to
discover my identity, discover my
gifts and my talents and pursue my
purpose in Christ .”
My mother taught me how to discover my
identity, discover my gifts and my talents
and pursue my purpose in Christ and become
a resource birthing all that God has put in me
and I’ve never departed from that, it’s now
my responsibility to use my spiritual gifts
and with the help of the Holy Spirit turn it
into practical resources to provide for my
family and for the support and help of needs
for the continued building of God’s
Kingdom, His Government here on earth and
I’m part of His Government. Therefore I am
learning that in Christ I’m not limited to what
the world says I can and can’t do, I’m also
part of God’s Kingdom and I choose to use
my experiences, gifts, talents and skills to
serve God beyond a system that has
limitations. My mother was my mentor, as
she taught me always to go back to God and
discover my purpose in Christ. That’s the
baton I continue with and that’s what I teach
my own children so that they’re not left not
knowing what to do but in all situations go
back to God because my role is to prepare
them to take on the baton when their time to
lead comes.
My mother was my mentor regardless of who
she was and the mistakes she may have made
she mentored me, whether it was to my
liking or not, because it always sent me
humbly back to God.
Our children’s welfare , spiritual and
practical development should start from us,
and as women/mothers we owe it to God to
look after the children He has blessed us
with, because we don’t own them, they are
given to us on loan for this reason, to train
them up in the gifts they are given by God
and how to use these gifts for the Kingdom
that I work for so that when they grow and
mature, they will never depart from their
gifting; I also believe that we should also
lovingly show them how to go to the Holy
Spirit to direct them to where they’re gifts can
be used for an eternal purpose. However, if
you don’t reflect that godly part of your life
before your children as a standard for good
living, how do you expect them to model it?
Whether you’re a biological mother, a
guardian, a foster parent, an adoptive parent
or a spiritual parent, if you’ve been given a
child to nurture, make the most of the role
and responsibility so that they can continue
the work of Salvation and when you pass on
the baton, they won’t look at it as if it
