Be Positive
As women, we have a tendency to self-doubt, to let our fears get in the way, along with outside talk. Negative self-talk is one of the hardest hurdles to overcome. When that creeps in, I figure out why. Having a mentor helped me to change my thought process, to think positive and to be positive. Don’ t let the negative talk in. I write down the good and the bad of my day, and then analyze how I can change the negative action to a positive action. What did I learn from the negative of that day? Was it just something I had no control over? Will it affect me tomorrow? If so, how? Push past your fears.
I like to write down my ideas as well – some are good, and some not so much. Journaling these thoughts helps to sort out the process and gives me something to look back on. Do what you love. Nobody can tell you what that is, but you.
Textile cleaning isn’ t just about clothes. We can restore boots, purses, rugs, window coverings and much more. I have a love for restoring antique textiles. Last year I restored a 60-year-old wedding dress. This year I restored some doll clothes, old wool capes, and some yellowed antique nurse’ s caps.

We have also been nominated for‘ Small Business of the Year’ as well as‘ Customer Service of the Year.’ I am currently the first female president of the Alberta Textile Care Association, which is a support and learning platform for dry cleaners. I have also been nominated for‘ Professional Achievement and Entrepreneur of the Year.’
I am fortunate to be working in an industry I love. As owner of two retail outlets of Master Cleaner, I can continue to serve my community and follow my dream.
