Looking back to my childhood I always loved helping people. I had a natural knack for leading, organizing, motivating and inspiring others as well as problem-solving, which are all qualities that are necessary to run a business. Being a business owner was always a dream of mine, and that dream became a reality in June of 1989.
I am still as passionate today as I was 28 years ago when I started my business. Because of all the experiences I have encountered over the years I am a much stronger and more confident woman today.
As Founder and President, I am proud of the success of my company, Dust Queen Maid Service. I was the only employee when I started in 1989 and today I employ a staff of 50 plus. Dust Queen has evolved into the Dust Queen Group with three divisions – Residential Cleaning( Dust Queen Maid Service), Commercial Cleaning( Knight Clean Commercial Service) and Dust Queen Carpet Cleaning.
Dust Queen has grown into a large, successful maid service and is a multi-award winning company. I’ m proud to say that we have received the Consumer’ s Choice Award for Business Excellence every year since 2004. I am also incredibly proud for being nominated in 2014 for the Alberta Women Entrepreneurs( AWE) award, as well as winning the Consumer Choice Award for Business Woman of the Year in 2011.
It takes a team effort. I am so proud of all my employees – they are incredible people who work hard and are committed to the company mission of helping people every day. They take pride in their work. To be part of something that is about helping people and making a difference in their lives is an incredible feeling.
My success is due to my passion for personal and professional growth, perseverance and strong work ethic. I’ m driven to be the best, to be leading edge in the cleaning industry and to continually grow and expand my company. Dust Queen is a people business – it’ s about helping our customers and helping our employees. I love overseeing my company, ensuring my vision remains steadfast.
