Unmask your Beauty
My name is Adedoyin Omotara, the founder of Adoniabeauty, a
beauty services and products company dedicated to help women
unmask their beauty. Unmask your Beauty – Embrace your soul
essence – Let your inner light shine! This is the powerful mantra
behind “Adoniaa” the uniquely enlightened makeup line designed
by me, a Nigerian-born, electrical engineer turned makeup artist and
women’s empowerment advocate.
Seeking the spiritually creative fulfillment missing in my successful corporate career,
I determined to resolve the concern that beauty today, far from being that poetic ‘joy
forever’ is unfortunately a source of insecurity, shame and stress for countless women.
My inspirational teaching events promote beauty, inside and out, to an audience of
women of all ages, particularly mothers and daughters.
In September 2016, I launched my first set of colour cosmetics with an event I themed
“Unmask Your Beauty.” Women from different backgrounds, cultures and walks of
life came to celebrate with us. My makeup artists picked women randomly from the
audience for a makeup session at the show. Then we got the women to walk the run-
way answering one question: “What is beauty?”
The women had different things to say: Beauty is confidence; beauty is showing
up authentic; beauty is vulnerability. I concluded with ‘beauty is personal.’ Simply
put, “Beauty is who you are at your core.” Women left the event inspired, uplifted,
empowered and validated that they all had beauty inside.
An important discovery I made in the last year, was to fully integrate my purpose into
my business. The main reason I started Adoniaabeauty was to connect women to their
individual beauty. This was not fully integrated into my business when I started it, but
as soon as I took a step back and wrapped the message around my business properly,
my business revenue increased and the potential for my business growth multiplied.
I constantly challenge my underlying beliefs and assumptions by learning every day. I
love to read books that nourish my soul. I also love listening to people that inspire me
to greatness. I am constantly inspired by people impacting the world – people who
take action to solve problems or causes that are close to their hearts. People who have
fully discovered their purpose.
One of my greatest inspirations is Tara Fela Durotoye who not only started the first
makeup school in Nigeria but empowered women financially through her business.
Another great inspiration for me is Michelle Obama who passionately worked on
projects that were close to her heart and impacted the lives of so many young girls
when she was the First Lady of America.
All my personal and business decisions are based on my values – Joy, Freedom,
Connection, Integrity and Generosity.
