In May 2014, WOBL's founder, Karen Millonado, realized that she had made a schedule wherein she had no break mates for the term. She always had difficulty finding people to spend time with during her breaks because it was time consuming to contact her friends and to ask them all individually whether they were free or not. She also noticed that among her friends, she wasn't the only one with this dilemma. Many of them also struggled to find their friends who were on break. With this, Karen, along with her co-founders, Daniel Ng Tio and Ramon Carsido, came up with an idea to make an app that would connect friends that were on break at the same time. Together they created the WOBL app or the "Who's on Break- LaSalle."
