EXPENSIVE SKIN
CARE IS BEST
This is just not true. There are good
and bad products in all price ranges.
Ingredients should truly be the first
factor to come into play when choosing
skincare. Often, you’re paying for the
scent, packing and marketing costs
within the price of the product. I have
some gorgeous skincare bottles that
are probably worth more than some
of the jewelry I own. There are so
many fabulous, inexpensive brands
that are extremely effective for your
skin type. Remember, what works
for JLO (and her bank account) may
not be what’s best for you so step
away from your Cosmo mag and You
Tube and see a skincare specialist
for some honest advice and results.

SCRUBBING CLEAN
CLEARS UP ACNE
Not at all! First of all, acne is not
a hygiene problem, it’s a hormonal
issue. If you over-scrub or over-wash
your skin too much, thinking you are
controlling the oil production, your
skin will dry out and just produce
more oil to compensate for the lack
of moisture. Since the top layer of
skin is now overly dry, the oil can’t get
through the dry, flaky skin thus trapping
bacteria and causing breakouts. Oily/
acne skin still requires hydration to be
healthy and to help purge the bacteria. When it comes to acne, definitely
see a skincare specialist as not all
acne is the same and remember to be
patient. Great skin does not happen by
chance....it happens by appointment ;)
WELLNESS
TRIED, TESTED AND TRUE HABITS
YOU MUST NOT IGNORE
#1 – Wash your face every night before bed. Even after a long night out when you
can barely manage to get out of your jeans, wash your face! At the very least, keep
some facial wipes on your nightstand - your skin will thank you! Remember, for us
women, it’s better to look good than feel good. At least you’ll look refreshed while
nursing that hangover.
#2 – Give an active product time to work its magic. Healthy, young skin turns over
every 28 days but that process takes longer the older we get, so be patient when
waiting for product results. At the very least, give it a month; however, it can take up
to 90 days to see positive results.
#3 – Change your pillow cases frequently - especially if you are going to ignore Tip #1.
#4 – Keep your regime simple. Layering multiple products is okay as long as you are
treating the proper conditions with the proper ingredients. Layering too many thick
products can clog pores. My Go-to Foursome is cleanser, serum, moisturizer and SPF.
I add in a scrub two to three times a week.
#5 – Don’t forget to pay your facialist a visit from time to time. We can see changes
in your skin that you can’t and we are pros at talking you off the ledge when you have
used bum cream around your eyes.
