CAN’T GET
HEALTHIER THAN
CANMORE
You’ll fly into Calgary and rent a car – no
worries about the drive. It’s an hour and a
half to Canmore, on a major highway, with
beautiful scenery to keep you entertained
enroute.
If you’re looking for a healthy getaway destination this winter,
you just can’t get healthier than Canmore, Alberta. Pack your yoga pants
and your ski jacket – there’s a whole lot of clean mountain air just waiting
to push itself into your lungs!
While Canmore offers several hotel
options, my recommendation for the first
half of your stay is Solara Resort and Spa.
The all-suite nature of the place offers the
convenience of a full kitchen, living room
and dining room, in addition to spacious
bedrooms and bathrooms with tubs so deep
you might just get lost. After a healthyworking-out-in-the-great-outdoors kind of
day, you’ll enjoy kicking back in front of the
fireplace (it’s gas…no hassles about logs
and matches and sparks on the carpet) with
a glass of wine (if it’s organic, remember, it
doesn’t count.) In the morning, you can grab
a bowl of meusli and granola before diving
back into your healthy holiday program.
Skiing will no doubt be the first thing on
your agenda and you’ll want to hit the
big hills first. Canmore is ideally located
within a short drive of four (count them,
you Ellicottville skiers, you), yes, four great
downhill ski centres: Sunshine Village (15
minutes), Lake Louise (60 minutes), Mount
Norquay (20 minutes) and Nakiska (30
minutes). Using Canmore as your home
base, you can ski them all! u
