Not Sure How To Get Started?
Try Personalizing A Sketchbook
Purchase a large sketchbook from your local drug store
and also buy any kind of pencils, pens, or markers that strike
your fancy. Your instructions are to collect snippets of you and
fill the pages with them without showing the results to anyone.
Don’t worry about the how or the what. Just sit down for thirty
minutes each day with whatever materials you have gathered
and play on the page. There is no right way to have a creative
practice. Doodle around in your sketchbook until you decide
what you want to do. You can fill your sketchbook or move
on to doing something else. But hang onto that pad, because
this practice is helpful whenever you are transitioning between
practices. It’s also a great place to collect your appreciations,
favorite quotes, hopes and dreams.
Two Creativity Classics
Read and discuss these two books with your spouse or a good
friend.
The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron
Creative Visualization by Shakti Gawain
Author, journalist, and writing coach Christina Katz learned a
long time ago that some folks would rather stay constantly busy
than spend even one minute looking inward. And she decided
not to become one of them.
