4 THINGS

EVERY GYM
NEEDS TO DO ON
SOCIAL MEDIA
S
ocial Media has revolutionised the way we can market our businesses and connect
with potential new customers. It’s an ever-changing world and it can be tricky to
know what to do. Here are 4 simple tips for gym owners and health clubs to focus on
for their social media channels .
up your page
1 Clean
hygiene
This is really simple but we see so many
Businesses not keeping a regular check
on their page details and links. Check
your Social Media channels are all set up
with your correct opening times, contact
details, email addresses etc.
On your Facebook page, make sure that
your call to action button on the first
page has the most useful contact details
on it and that your “About” section is
properly filled in and p to date. Check
the tabs down the side of the page for
any old or missing links that might have
expired.
On Instagram, check the details in your
bio are correct and that your profile is set
up as a business profile to allow you to
place a call to action button at the top
of your account with your email, phone
number and location.
up a few channels
2 Pick
and do them well
Your Social Media channels can be
one of the first places your potential
customers are checking when learning
more about your business so you want to
make a good first impression!
If you spread yourself too thin and fail to
maintain or update your channels with
regular content then you are not giving
the best impression of your business.
Just pick one or two channels and do
them well – a Facebook Fan Page is
always our first choice as it the most
popular social media channels and has
the best advertising options too.
value, not
3 Offer
adverts
Keep the content on your page useful
and valuable to your potential customer
and current customers.
The things you post on a regular basis
should be one of three things –
educational, inspirational or entertaining
- your customers are not using social
media to be sold to, it’s like saying
people watch television for the
commercials.
Try and make the majority of your posts
about relevant topics and adding more
value to your customers ( examples
here would be – tips on training, healthy

recipes, useful blogs or inspiring quotes
or memes) and less about trying to sell
to them.
some ‘Behind the
4 Show
Scences’
People are interested in people and
social media should be social! Show
some of the behind the scenes stuff from
your facility. It could be some pictures
of your team training together or trying
a new workout, it could be showing
examples of how the PT’s prep their food
or celebrating the wins of some of your
team.
Have fun with your social media and
keep it social, it’s a great place to reflect
your businesses personality and engage
your members – it doesn’t have to be
polished and scripted – just honest
interaction.
