[ WM ] Tell us about your approach to producing in general?
[ Isaac ] I love getting to know who I am working with. It is important for me to understand context to develop a vision. Partnering works better for me vs. creating music that I think sounds good. Ultimately, this allows me to produce music that is actually an expression from the artist and serves a vision, vs. just a well-produced musical piece.
Outside of that, songwriting for me is really big. The power of a good song is limitless. Producing approach can vary A LOT depending on the artist, project, and vision.
[ WM ] What was it like producing Jesus Culture’ s newest album?
[ Isaac ] Oh, it was really awesome. I loved that our movement is now being reborn from within, meaning that a lot of our local people are involved. It reflects an honest expression of what’ s happening weekly in our churches in Sacramento and San Diego. That was a big motivation, and also, exploring how to honor that sonically was a challenge on its own— but it was a blast.
