the Richer ( 95-97 ) on their self-titled album , and This Beautiful Mess before that one . He ’ s the first bass player I heard that used delay and had a lot of defining basslines in their songs .
[ WM ] Do you play bass outside of the church ? Do any session work ?
[ Cassie ] I do session work whether at home or in a studio . Most are worship albums , some are more singer / songwriter , and some are instrumental songs meant more for sync licensing , it just depends . I would say most of the music I work on has a redemptive theme throughout it , and whether it ’ s for a Sunday morning service , someone driving in their car , hearing it on a TV program , or trying to fall asleep ; I love seeing themes or sounds of hope , peace and meaning find their way into a wide array of spaces .
[ WM ] What are you using to record with ? ProTools ? Plug-ins ? Tell us about your home studio .
[ Cassie ] Currently I use Logic if I ’ m recording at home . It ’ s a pretty simple set up with my Apogee Duet , going into Logic . I ’ ll use one of their amp models and tweak it a little , and then I ’ m also running through my board .
[ WM ] Your thoughts on modeling units vs . analog ?
[ Cassie ] To me , if it sounds good , that ’ s all that matters . :)
[ WM ] Can you mention one or two worship albums that inspire your own worship bass playing ?
[ Cassie ] The humor of my life is teen Cassie was the biggest hater of Christian music . I would always say , “ If I hear one more tinny acoustic intro ... so help me ” and then this band Delirious ? came along and changed that for me . Live in the Can and King of Fools showed me that “ Christian music ” could be musically good , while also absolutely no question I felt
