Considered a Rock and Blues instrument today , Country music artists were more involved in the Stratocasters origin story early on . Features including the Fender bolt on neck , contoured body and tremolo bridge set the Strat apart from guitars . Hunter ’ s book takes us through the guitar ’ s innovations , the different owners and the artists that made the Stratocaster the icon it is today . Eric Clapton , Jeff Beck , Mary Kaye , Buddy Holly , Bonnie Raitt , Jimi Hendrix , Lincoln Brewster and Buddy Guy are just a few of the musicians known as Strat players . This is a collector ’ s book that is fun to read and is visually appealing . If you are a Fender , guitar , or Stratocaster lover this is a must have in your collection and it is priced at $ 60 . www . fender . com
SPARK LINK Positive Grid created one of the best-selling practice amplifiers , so why not tackle a wireless guitar system next ? So , they did with the new Spark Link . The system that WM received for review for the Spark Link system contained a rechargeable transmitter and receiver , a dual USB C cable for charging and a manual . Designed for stage or home use , Spark Link is designed to be simple and to untether you from guitar cables . The transmitter plugs into your guitar and the receiver unit plugs into your guitar amp or PA system . It delivers 24-bit / 48Hz audio with no sound loss , latency under 3ms and you can be up to 70 feet away from the receiver and still have signal thanks to the 4 built-in channels . Once fully charged the Spark Link can be played for up to 6 hours . While testing the system out connecting was easy but do staying in line of site of the receiver . Sound quality was good , especially at a $ 129
price tag . My only recommendation would be a carrying bag or case to protect the transmitter and receiver which will fit any style of amplifier and instrument . Spark Link is a fun and affordable way to get into wireless ! www . positivegrid . com
FISHMAN EXPANDS AFX ACOUSTIC PEDAL LINE Fishman continues to increase their offerings of AFX effects pedals designed for acoustic instruments . Their latest inclusions are the EchoBack Delay , BlueChorus , and AcoustiComp compression pedals . Although they are smaller in size , the tonal options are more diverse than many larger effects pedals . The EchoBack Delay offers Digital , Analog and Tape Delay with touch tempo , repeat , level and delay time controls . The Tape and Analog modes really sound sweet with an acoustic guitar . BlueChorus is a must have pedal Vintage , Classic and Analog effects . It also provides controls for depth , tone , and rate . BlueChorus works especially well with chords and makes the guitar sound fuller . AcoustiComp is simple with only two control knobs for level and compression , but it tightens up the sound of the guitar and adds sustain where needed . All three Fishman AFX pedals sell for $ 119.95 each and require 9V external power since there isn ’ t room for a battery . These three effects pedals are the best yet in the Fishman AFX line in my opinion . You could build an acoustic pedalboard around these effects and only need to add a tuner to the chain . Definitely check out these new pedals from Fishman ! www . fishman . com
