Andy Timmons is one of the most beloved guitar players on the planet , thanks to his tasty chops and awesome tone . After years of using a variety of delay devices to craft his signature ‘ Halo ’ sound , the team at Keeley Effects endeavored to stuff all that mojo into a pedal board friendly stomp that won ’ t break the bank and requires a mere 9v DC to power . Ladies and gentlemen , behold the Keeley Electronic Halo - Andy Timmons Dual Echo !
Before we hear from Andy himself , here ’ s some key information about this amazing little stomp . I ’ ll start by saying that this just might be THE BEST delay pedal for worship ( and beyond ?) I ’ ve ever encountered . For me , that means there are a number of boxes I can mark checked with nothing but the highest of scores !
THE TONE This pedal oozes a ton of great delay tones , delivering a gorgeous wash of delay that doesn ’ t mess with your direct signal . The HPF control enables you to set the cutoff frequency for the built-in High Pass Filter , enabling you to attenuate out frequencies up to 300Hz . This is especially useful with humbuckers or P90s , since it gives you the ability to easily remove low end murkiness out of the delay signal .
The Saturate control mimics the kind of musical magic that tape echoes like the Maestro EP-3 are famous for . Turning this up compresses the delay sound and reduces the transient attack , further smoothing out the top end .
