IN USE : Fortunately , I ’ m blessed with a couple Klon Centaurs I bought back in the day . I ’ ve reviewed several Klon-Clones , and some are better than others . I will say side by side ; this may be the closest sounding , especially at the exact knob settings . The Shamrock Mod Switch is an excellent addition for more gain . It ’ s an additional circuit like the original KTR mod JHS was famous for . I found it perfect for a crunchy
guitar part or solos . I ’ ve also used the Klon as a clean boost , and the NOTAKLON does the boost job exceptionally well . I ’ ve traditionally used this pedal as an always-on early in the chain to give the guitar more authority .
Some of my friends think I ’ m crazy . Alternatively , most players love to turn up the gain to engage the whole circuit and transparent gain . I love that , too , and on one of my church board switcher loops , I ’ m putting the NOTAKLON into a classic green pedal and love the combo . I learned about it by watching a John Mayer video . It ’ s a light crunch with lots of sustain for lines , and the notes really speak . I could also imagine having two of these on my board since they sound so good and inexpensive . One for clean , barely breakup , and one cranked . I ’ m curious if the NOTOKLON will force down the prices of Klon Centaurs on Reverb , etc .
MY TAKEAWAY : Picking up a NOTAKLON is a no-brainer . It ’ s fun to put together , inexpensive , and fantastic . I ’ m sure it ’ s gonna be a home run for JHS . I ’ ve got it on my church board and might get a second for my fly rig . The original Klon Centaurs might get lost on a flyboard . That would be bad . P . S . There may be a waiting list at the time of this publication .
