[ WM ] What is your main stage and songwriting guitar you use ?
[ Shane Lance ] My favorite live worship guitar is my Gibson 50s LG-2 . It ’ s got a small lil body that ’ s easy to bounce around with onstage , but sounds big and bright .. best of both worlds .
[ WM ] What brand / model vocal microphone do you use on stage ? In your home studio ?
[ Shane ] On stage I like a Shure ( most often ULXD2 / B87C or something similar ) and at home I ’ m often demoing on an RE20 . I ’ ve got other vocal-specific mics , but this is such a great utility mic for everything from vocals to drums … it can handle whatever I throw at it .
[ WM ] For your acoustic , what pick-up system is on your guitar ?
[ Shane ] L . R . Baggs in the Gibson . I ’ ve even had an L . R . Baggs soundhole pickup installed in another vintage acoustic I have … they sound killer !
[ WM ] What brand capo do you use ?
[ Shane ] My go-to live capo is the Dunlap trigger acoustic capo .
[ WM ] What guitar strings do you prefer ?
[ Shane ] Always been on D ’ Addario ’ s . Phosphor bronze medium 13 ’ s on my acoustics , nickel wound 11 ’ s on my electrics ( my go-to is my Fender Jazzmaster )
[ WM ] For In-Ear Monitors what brand are you using ?
[ Shane ] I ’ ve got the Shure SE425 ’ s . Everyone swears by custom molds , but these have always been solid for me !
[ WM ] What do you use to capture song ideas down with ?
[ Shane ] A voice memo when I ’ m on the go ! Gotta move fast before I forget it .
[ WM ] What is a current worship record you enjoy listening to right now ?
[ WM ] What is the next piece of gear you would be excited to have ?
[ Shane ] An old 4-track cassette recorder ( yes , for real !) Nothing fancy ... like a Yamaha MT4X or something . It would force myself to demo with limited input options , and maybe print some sounds over cassette for the vibe !
[ WM ] What advice do you have for our worship leaders , bandmates and tech teams reading this magazine ?
[ Shane ] You don ’ t work for Jesus ’ garden .. He ’ s your gardener .
[ WM ] Are you using a clip-on tuner ? A floor pedal tuner ?
[ Shane ] I ’ ve got one of those Snark tuner things . Works great backstage . I don ’ t like to keep it on live though . With that and the capo clipped on the headstock it feels like I ’ ve got too many random things hanging from my guitar , like maybe I should just hang a car air freshener on there too at this point . Ha !
[ Shane ] UPPERROOM Moments : 011 ( Live ). At my core I ’ m a 22 1 / 2 min worship song kinda guy .
[ WM ] What is your current or upcoming music project and / or tour ?
[ Shane ] Too many to list ( I have the privilege of producing full time , thank you Lord !) but I ’ ll use this chance to hype up the new Zoe Music stuff .. it ’ s FIREEE .
