[ WM ] Tell us how this journey all began for you . How did the course of your life lead you to where you are now ?
[ Dave Helmuth ] When I graduated from high school , I was thrown into the worship leader role at church . Ten years later , inspired by my Dad ’ s heart for regional leaders , I began dreaming about how to earn a living while mentoring leaders from many local churches – leaders who likely felt like I had when I first started leading . sE Electronics V7 .
[ WM ] If you play an acoustic guitar , what pickup system is on your guitar ?
[ Dave ] I had a Fishman Thinline Undersaddle Pickup installed when I first bought it in 1995 , and I pair it with the L . R . Baggs Para Acoustic D . I . and Preamp .
[ WM ] What brand capo do you use ?
[ Dave ] I like the Kyser for my cut capo and G7th for the full capo . My favorite arrangement is with the full capo on one and the cut on three , playing with D shapes .
[ WM ] When did you see a need for what you are offering right now ? Tell us about the resource ( s ) you provide others in the worship community ?
[ Dave ] In 2002 , I launched a worship coaching organization called Ad Lib Music which walks alongside leaders , teams , and techs . Today , in simple love and pure devotion to Jesus , we eradicate isolation and burnout so leaders bear much fruit ! We are a very relational team of coaches that offer one-on-one coaching ( where we can work on the specific things where you feel stuck ), rehearsal coaching ( where we help your team become the best version of themselves at weekly rehearsals ), tech training ( that builds unity , inspires techs to mix musically and maximizes your current system , and team retreats ( where your team ’ s relationships deepen significantly ), and Five Faders training ( where you unlock your team ’ s potential and build a great team of craftsmen , pastors , prophets , mentors , and architects ).
[ WM ] Let ’ s talk gear . What is your primary instrument for the stage and songwriting ?
[ Dave ] My long-beloved 1981 Alvarez Yairi . It has a wonderful tone , easily playable action , and beautiful curly maple back and sides .
