Concerning this new AEG-1 guitar I was privileged to play the prototype two years ago and then again last year at the NAMM show . Lloyd personally walked me through the merits of it and I am impressed to see how successful he was in capturing his lofty goals here . He is a brilliant man . He designed this guitar in their Nipomo , CA facility , and then the guitars are made in Korea ( my wife Judy is ½ Korean ). :) Once built , the guitars are meticulously setup back in the Nipomo , CA facility . The guitar played great out of the boxes and was set with low action just how I like it .
The AEG-1 comes in three different top options : Sunburst Sitka Spruce , Torrefied Spruce and Natural Engleman . For this review I played the Sunburst Sitka Spruce ( love the look of that sunburst finish too ). The gig bag is high quality as well and even the cardboard box the AEG- 1 ships in is classy as it has the outline of the guitar and brand name on it . From start to finish the detail in this new guitar project is stellar … it truly sets a new standard for acoustic stage guitars .
