it doesn ’ t overload whatever comes after it . I like that the overload LED light shows what the pedal feels regarding signal level . I have it set where it ’ s lighting up just barely , and that sounds fantastic . Also , it ’ s important to note that you should set the level knob in bypass mode . The level knob is always engaged , even in bypass mode . This way , you can maximize your headroom without being surprised by unwanted distortion .
MY TAKEAWAY : It could be because I ’ m from Los Angeles , and
I am a chorus lover . It was a massive part of the guitar refrigerator rack vibe in the 90 ’ s . It can be overused , but I usually have it set more subtly . I always want the guitar ’ s tone to come through and not be clouded too much by modulation effects . There are a lot of famous guitar tones using this pedal by guys like Andy Summers , Brian May , Eric Clapton , Joe Walsh , and many more . The WA-C1 is a smooth , vibey chorus that sounds good on keys , too . The Vibrato circuit is three-dimensional and rich . It ’ s also nice to have both 100 % analog Chorus and Vibrato effects in one no-nonsense pedal .
You don ’ t need MIDI or external devices to get the most out of this pedal . In that aspect , it ’ s refreshing . This is the classic chorus that started it all . It looks super cool on the board and unique compared to most of today ’ s square cookie-cutter pedals . It ’ s so affordable too . The original can go for as much as $ 2,000.00 on Reverb . The WA-C1 sells for $ 189.00 .
