I demoed this guitar with our Praise Team at Western Hills Church in Nashville , TN and it fit into the mix great . Rolling off some of the bass frequencies and bringing up the mids and highs allowed the Guild Starfire 1 12-string to sit in a sonic space where other instruments in the band weren ’ t . The thinner neck was a breeze to play , and I was pleased at how it took capos in multiple positions . The guitar was well balanced also thanks to the mahogany center block , so it wasn ’ t neck heavy as 12-strings and doubleneck guitars can be . My Praise Team leader was very happy with the sound . In hindsight the addition of a delay or chorus pedal might have added to the fullness too .
The Guild Starfire 1 12-string would be a great addition to your sonic palette , especially if you are on a budget . The model is great for electric guitar players who aren ’ t as comfortable with full necked acoustic electric 12-string guitars that can be hard to manage when chording for entire songs . With a street price of $ 649 the Guild Starfire 1 12-string is a bargain in an electric 12-string with two humbuckers . It doesn ’ t include a gig bag or hardcase and I would recommend purchasing a quality one to protect your investment . For an import guitar made in Indonesia , the Guild Starfire 1 12-string doesn ’ t look , sound , or play like an import . If you ’ ve been looking to add a 12-string to your mix this Guild is a great way to do it on a budget !
