Favorite Worship Guitar Performance in a Song : Early on in my musical journey I could easily point to Lincoln Brewster (“ Let The Praises Ring ” or “ Let Your Glory Shine ” anyone ?!) as my favorite guitar performance . But at the moment I love artists like Bethel ( David Hislop and Kenyon Reed ) who can tastefully layer creative and melodically rich parts together that fit the song perfectly . The guitar parts on Alabaster Heart have always been super inspiring to me .
A Current Worship Album You are Enjoying : Almost all the recent offerings from Cody Carnes have been some of the most important and cherished songs I ’ ve attached to recently . Lyrics that tie worship to discipleship is my heart ’ s aim right now and Cody has been putting out songs that carry this theme so powerfully .
Some advice for your fellow worship guitar players : Commit to a plan of growth both spiritually and musically . Never sacrifice one for the other . Both are essential and both can and should co-exist . There is no such thing as “ authenticity VS . excellence ”, it ’ s a both / and . “ Authenticity AND excellence ” should be our heart ’ s aim . Don ’ t underestimate the immense power of the spiritual disciplines — reading your Bible , prayer , fasting , simplicity , solitude , Sabbath . These are essential pieces of worship revival in America .
“ The show ” of our church services will soon lose momentum to those churches and praise teams whose members clearly and tangibly are apprentices of Jesus first and foremost .
