of a physical Leslie, and the size is super pedalboard-friendly.

One of the most creative things is switching between slow and fast. It’ s very emotive and dramatic, especially in stereo. There are several tasty options available with the three modes. With mode 1, you have an authentic classic rotary, and I like the Balance switch on. I also like how the rise time can be fast or slow. To me, the slower rise setting is my favorite, as it is more dramatic, especially when transitioning from fast to slow. The Drive setup on this pedal is legit, too. It’ s great in the studio when you’ re creating dramatic vintage sounds.

Mode 2 provides a broader range of high / low EQ, which I prefer for clean sound, and I also like it paired with an overdrive pedal. It also sounds wider pitch-wise than Mode 1.

Mode 3 has the most grit, and if you add drive, it really cuts through. It’ s very Hendrix-like and sounds like a big old wood Leslie cabinet. I tried it on my synth organ, and it sounded much more like the real thing. Here’ s another thing: You can also try putting this at the end of your signal chain. This will be very much like a real-world Leslie cabinet. I like both sounds, it’ s good after distortion and both before and after reverb and delays. Try them both!

MY TAKEAWAY: I love this pedal. The rotary effect is super emotive, and there’ s nothing like it for classic Beatle-ish vibes, especially with a twelve-string, if you have one. It’ s also fantastic with a synth. It adds a cool, spacious movement that’ s both ethereal and yet modern. Pads come alive especially when changing rotor and horn speeds.

The RT-2 sound has improved over the original RT-20, and the size is perfect. I would likely get two of these— one for the studio board and one for the live board. If you are looking for something unique and expressive, you’ ll
