WLM WLM Summer 2015 - Page 21

WLM | explore The Festival celebrates the geographic region and community -- the people who live here, what they create, and what they do (as recreation or livelihood). Dozens of craftsmen and women will demonstrate their skills and show their work. Many will have hands-on activities for visitors. Ask a question, and you may be surprised at how willing they are to share their stories. Demonstrations include horsehair hitching, mohair cinch making, fly-tying, taxidermy, basketry, woodwork, metal work, glass, pottery, spinning, weaving, knitting, ropemaking, quilting, treadle sewing, rug work and felting. Special highlights during the festival: Roy Pilcher, chain saw artist from Devil’s Monument, will carve a seven-foot statue for the proposed Children’s Nature Center in the state park. Visitors can watch it take shape over the two days. David Osmundsen, from Buffalo, will demonstrate metal work with his portable forge. www.wyolifestyle.com 21
