W hen it comes to each issue, we usually have a general theme to our feature articles. I’d love to say this is deliberate – quite the contrary. We receive a great deal of suggestions and story ideas from our readers throughout the country, as well as our clients and friends that we’ve made along the way, and we work in these ideas as we go. When I sit down to organize each issue, I usually end up laughing to myself because I realize that once again, we’ve inadvertently found a theme! Such is the case with this issue. This go-round, the theme practically jumped off the page. A good majority of our feature articles center around the idea of creative energy and inspirational thinking. In our home feature, the Layhers’ Buffalo home carries the legacy of the family who originally began Paradise Guest Ranch. In our business feature, Freedom Arms was the product of inspirational thinking. In our Wyoming Woman section, learn about the inspirational thinking behind the design of our Wyoming state flag. In our historical feature, we take a look at a modern marvel – the Lincoln Highway. In our “Wyovore – My Wyoming Craving” feature, we celebrate the creative energy and tough minded attitude of the pioneers who created Mormon Row in Grand Teton National Park. These are only a portion of the stories you’ll find in our Winter 2013-14 issue of Wyoming Lifestyle Magazine. As many of our feature articles’ subjects discovered, the creative process isn’t easy. We can appreciate the struggle that many of these individuals have endured. It’s not easy beginning something – no matter what it is – and one of the key values behind much of our American society is this idea of blazing one’s trail through life. The holiday season, and the end of the year, is a time to reflect upon the trail you’ve blazed this past year, and the one you intend to create in the next. We appreciate you joining us along our trail! We know that your time is valuable, and when you decide to sit down with our magazine (or stand if your life is always on the go!), we realize and appreciate the energy you’re lending to us. Our hope is that we can give you something in return – either a new appreciation for our state, a rekindling of your affection for Wyoming, or perhaps you’ll learn something new. We greatly appreciate you, and we have enjoyed this exercise in utilizing creative energy. Reading the features in this issue rejuvenates my creative process – and I hope it does for you as well. Thank you for being a gigantic source of our inspiration! ‘Til next time, Kati Hime Kati Hime, Editor editor’s note www.wyolifestyle.com 5
