CAMERA AND — a Yellowstone Story Second day – Cody & Powell. The drive was stunning, with last night’s thunderstorm making the earth richly green and brown. The kids marveled at the scenery and Levi reveled in his role of geology tour guide. Our first mission was the museums in Powell – Heart Mountain Interpretive Center and Homesteader Museum. History is a family hobby, and as the rain found us again, the timing for some indoor adventure was perfect. Our daughter and I really got into the idea of homesteading life at the Homesteader Museum. At Heart Mountain Interpretive Center, we were all moved to tears by the story of Japanese Americans relocated to the camp during WWII. We marveled at the space that a family was given to share. The conversation was rich on the drive back to Cody, where we enjoyed drinks at Rawhide Coffee and wandered the shops along Sheridan Avenue. The sun had come out to play and we were thankful for the vitamin D. The kids posed with the uniquely painted bison and bears around town and we all spent some time at the playground near the visitor center (teenagers still love a playground!). In the afternoon, we headed to Buffalo Bill Center of the West. www.wyolifestyle.com 27
