the vine are from last year’s growth. You
can easily identify this growth by its fresh
color and appearance of “new wood.” If
you cut all the shoots off that grew the
previous year, you won’t get any fruit. So
usually from a cane of over 12 buds, those
are reduced to three to four buds with
a total of 30 buds per vine. Over 80%
of the growth from the last season is cut
