I
always enjoy finding a fictional
novel based in Wyoming
history. Writing fiction is
a shared passion for me, and
with this background I can see
clearly that Wyoming delivers an
environment perfect for building a
slate of characters. The flexibility
of the physical environment,
the variety of characters that
developed towns, homesteaded
or pursued careers of a less
legal nature makes for fictional
gold. That is why I found James
Hufferd’s book, The Bells of Autumn,
interesting. James selected an area
that I personally love to travel
through, with history a little off
the beaten track that is currently a
draw for me as well … Newcastle
and the Black Hills of Wyoming.
We asked James for a little insight
into his book and what drew him
to base his novel in the area.
