Never Alone
As I walked along the cobblestone path, I realized that all sound had stopped. No sound from crickets, all was silent. I looked around the area. It was empty, except for a few dried leaves twisting in the wind. This was fall, the time of year on which All Hallows eve occurred. Normally, back at home, this was exciting! We got to go trick-or-treating, we got to decorate out house all scary-like, and we got to have fun. Not here. Not in this city. In this city, I needed to stay out of any area with undead. During this time, they accumulate special powers. Lost souls could think, and cast more powerful spells. This was bad news for us. I stayed at home almost all that year, but I needed to go to the housing shop to pick up a few furniture items and have a few of my buddies from home over for a party, when I heard a tiny rustle. At first, I thought it was nothing. This was a protected area, monsters couldn’t roam in here. My thoughts changed just that instant. A wiry creature glistening with what appeared to be sweat, crawled out of the bushes. He was completely hairless, with white eyes and sharp teeth. He growled at me, then scampered away. This was nothing new, and I would have completely ignored him if I wasn’t in the commons area, an area without monsters. I checked my friends list, and saw that none of them were awake. I took the tunnel to the shopping district.
