Dear Molly,
As we go into the New Year, I'm reminded that I never manage to stick to my resolutions. I really do try, but something always springs out of the woodwork that causes me to give up.
In the past I’ve always had emotional trouble around the holiday time, so this year I've decided that my resolution is to value my everyday life more since I’ve struggled to see my place in it. Do you have any suggestions on how I should go about it?
New Year's Hopes
Dear New Years,
To start off, when it comes to New Year’s resolutions, it is quite easy for them to fall to the wayside as life picks up. My advice would be to be realistic with yourself and start smart. Most people don't fulfill their resolutions because they start off too strong: they simply jump into it instead of working their way up.
To fulfill your resolution, start by taking five minutes a day to think about everything you're thankful for.
I suggest buying a remembral and enchanting it to light up whenever you’ve forgotten that you are important!
Connect with your loved ones and start sending regular owls to thme to keep in touch. A support network is always helpbul.
And always, always remember—it’s perfectly fine to see a healer therapist and get the professional help that you may need. Just don't give up and if you falter get up and try again.
Best wishes, Molly
Molly, May I?
Advice from
Molly Weasley
Dear Molly,
As Christmas has passed I've noticed that there's a stain in my white table cloth. It’s a deep red elf wine blot. Usually I would simply replace the cloth after the spot didn't come out, but this particular table cloth has been in the family for ten generations. I've tried multiple spells without luck!
Is there any way I can get this stubborn spot out without paying a professional?
Spotted Cloth
Dear Spotted,
Don't worry, dear! It’s quite simple. You'll need a bottle of white sherry and some muggle baking soda. Mix the baking soda with water to make a paste. Soak the spot in sherry, then spread the paste over it. Let it sit for a few hours, occasionally spraying it with more sherry, and then simply use a basic cleansing spell and your beloved cloth should be good as new.
Good luck, Molly
