Have your past Valentine’s plans been like eating a bag of Bertie Bott’s—never knowing if they’ll be a hit? You know that you want to do something together amazing for your partner and you want it to be special, but you just aren’t sure what that is? Never fear! You can stop your whinging now because I have a range of ideas, with varying price tags, so you and your lover can have a good time without spending every galleon you have (unless of course, that’s what you want to do).

First and foremost, one of the cheaper and easiest plans is to hop on your broom and go on a picnic. This year, Valentine’s Day falls on a Saturday so you can spend all day out, but just don’t forget the warming charm—it won’t due to have your sweetheart rushing off because their fingers are turning blue. Pack a neverending basket with all of their favorite foods, as well as the classic chocolates and bottle of wine, by casting an extension charm on your favorite basket.

Now, if a picnic sounds a bit too simple for you and splurging a bit is possible, try a sensual night at home. Dress up in your fancier robes and have dinner together—no frumpy jumpers allowed! Prepare a nice personally made romantic meal, with maybe even a few aphrodisiacs such as salmon and asparagus [nudge nudge]. Don’t be afraid to take out that nice bottle of elf-made red wine you’ve been saving. Afterwards, for some pudding try chocolate figs! Though overshadowed by the strawberry, figs are the actual symbol of sexuality. Afterwards turn on your song, run a bubble bath filled with rose petals (pre-enchant the tub with bluebell flames for ambient light and to keep the water warm during your dinner) and let the night carry you where it will.

For the witch or wizard who can afford to go above and beyond for their special someone, this is for you! This is the night to show them just how much you really care, so why not harken back to when you decided to take the first step and actually give them a night to remember. Recreate the atmosphere of that first date, but this time there won’t be any blunders or sweaty palms. Since you’re willing to splurge, go invest in a pensieve (they can be tricky to find, but check out Wiseacre’s Wizarding Equipment to put in a special order). Think of that moment when you knew you had found a keeper (10 points to your house if they actually ARE a Quidditch keeper) and pour all of those memories into the pensieve. At the end of the evening, invite your loved one to share in those moments to feel your love for them directly. Who knows what would come of a night like this!
