WISHING WIRE Volunteer Newsletter| Issue 4 2014 Codie’s the star on her wish to meet the cast of Neighbours Fourteen-year-old Codie, diagnosed with cerebral palsy and a life-threatening spinal deformity, is a huge Neighbours fan. When asked to name her most cherished wish, she had no trouble deciding that meeting the cast of Neighbours would be the ultimate experience. Little did Codie know – the real star of the day would be her! Codie arrived at the Neighbours set in true celebrity style, chauffeured in a silver limousine. Her favourite actress, Saskia Hampele (who plays Georgia Brooks on the show), was Codie’s tour guide for the day. Beginning with a stint in the costume department, Codie picked out her favourite ‘Georgia’ costume to wear, before heading on to makeup, where she had a turn in the chair getting made up by the Neighbours makeup artists. Next up for Codie was a set tour, where she got to meet all of her favourite cast members, as well as see them in action while scenes were being filmed. A beaming Codie couldn’t believe her luck when the cast surprised her by asking her to be in one of the upcoming scenes in the show. Transformed into a bona fide Erinsborough local, Codie got to sit in the iconic coffee shop, Harold’s Store, and sip on an orange juice while a scene played out around her. The cast were just as thrilled as Codie to see her wish come true, and the bubbly young girl was treated to many hugs and kisses by her new fans. Codie will get her screen debut when the episode airs this August 19th.
