There was an Islamic
terrorist attack in London,
United Kingdom, on 3
June 2017 whereby a van
left the road and struck
a number of pedestrians
on London Bridge. After
the van crashed, its three
occupants ran to the nearby
Borough Market area and
began stabbing people in
and around restaurants and
pubs.
Eight people were killed and
48 were injured, including
four unarmed police officers
who attempted to stop
the assailants. The three
attackers, who wore fake
explosive vests, were later
shot dead by police.

The 12th G20 summit was held
at Hamburg Germany and the
leaders of the G20 countries
has agreed for taking concrete
steps to stop funding of the
terror activities. The leaders
have also pledged for a joint
crackdown on the global
scourge of terrorism and check
its funding sources. The United Nations Security
Council has unanimously voted
to impose new sanctions on
North Korea over its sixth and
most powerful nuclear test.
It was the ninth sanctions
resolution unanimously
adopted by the 15-member
council since 2006 over North
Korea’s ballistic missile and
nuclear programmes.

become first Arab state to offer
permanent residency to some
non-citizens
Qatar’s Cabinet has approved
a draft law making permanent
residency available to some
non-citizens. It marks a partial
shift from Qatar’s heavy
reliance on its longstanding
visa-sponsorship system. With
this the energy-rich Qatar
becomes first Gulf Arab state
to make permanent residency
available to some non-citizens.
