No Second Chance for NRIs
to Deposit Old Currency

India’s External Affairs Minister
Sushma Swaraj has made it
fully clear that no additional
chances would be given to the
NRIs or people of Indian-origin
to deposit the higher currency
notes, which were declared
illegal after removing their legal
tender under the government’s
demonetization policy,
according to the statement
released by the External Affairs
Ministry.
While speaking at the Global
Organization for People of
Indian Origin delegation while
in New York Last week, where
she went to attend the United
Nations General Assembly,
Sushma Swaraj said that
government has allotted
enough time for the NRIs to
deposit old currency notes.
The members of the GOPIO
had asked the Indian External
Affairs minister to find a way
for the NRIs to deposit their old
currency notes as the Reserve
Bank of India is not allowing
them to deposit their money.
On November 8 last year,
Indian Prime Minister, under
the demonetization policy and
to curb the influx of fake notes
and black money, banned the
use of higher currency notes of
500 and 1000.

Card for operate their bank
