Bathukamma means “mother goddess come
alive”. The festival is celebrated for nine days
and goddess Parvathi is worshiped during the
festival.
Goddess Gauri is formed with seasonal flowers
and a bunch of flowers in gopuram shape
is called as Bathukamma. All the ladies of
the families and colonies gather to celebrate
Bathukamma with joy. They come in beautiful
traditional outfits which makes the festival even
more bright. The women who gathered go
round by clapping in a rhythm along with the
Bathukamma folk songs. The most colourful
and celebrated festival in Telangana.
