Under the Big Top
On Monday, September 22, the dorm stood empty. All the students and staff left Huff Hall in lieu of the
Big Top. The Kelly Miller Circus was in town, in Elkhorn! Students and staff enjoyed the experience. The
majority of the students liked the fire act best. A man poured lighter fluid in his mouth and spit out fire.
Some enjoyed the trapeze act. A woman was swinging on the trapeze using only her teeth. There were a
variety of animal acts including tigers, dogs, goats, alpacas, camels, and zebras.
Students had the opportunity to pet a zebra or ride a camel or an elephant. Some of the female high
school students enjoyed riding the elephant but some felt the two-minute ride was too short. Students also
gobbled up carnival fare, which included cotton candy, salted peanuts (in the shell) and funnel cakes.
